Mike Sherer
"I
came up with the idea for the screenplay after reading numerous
news accounts of police task forces set up to trap Internet chat
room pedophiles - and police officers posing as teenage girls to
ensnare sexual predators."
Oddly
enough, Edward Albee's famous stage play, "Who's Afraid of Virginia
Woolf," had much to do with the creation of Hamal_18 as a movie.
"I tried to incorporate the claustrophobic atmosphere where during
one long night a middle age couple do battle with each other using
the memory of their supposedly dead child." He wanted to maintain
the same intensity, although updated for the age of the Internet
for Hamal_18.
Besides
writing Hamal_18, the prolific Mike Sherer has written numerous
other screenplays which have garnered awards in writer's competitions
around the U.S. Mike and his wife Connie live in Mason, Ohio.
